Text Box: Terrific Twos and Threes by Leslie Morrison
Text Box: The Bible says “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13. What type of hospitality have you displayed in front of your children?
One way to show hospitality is by simply giving when the opportunity is in front of you. When the Salvation Army bucket is out during the holidays, give your two-year-old a quarter or two to drop in it. She will get a kick out of doing this. It will open up a simple conversation about giving to people who don’t have money or things like food, toys to play with, or even a house.
You and your three-year-old can go through toys, books, and clothing and give away what is not used, worn or played with—even if you give it to the preschool your child attends. My child Text Box: and I do this every year before Christmas. We talk about how he has so much and other children may get nothing for Christmas because their mom and dad don’t have a job or because of some other circumstance. When natural disasters occur, children see other children suffering. Talk about this and bag up some gently used clothes and toys to donate. This act demonstrates to them that others need things that they have, it feels good to give, and God wants us to take care of others.
The above scripture doesn’t just mean the “poor”. We show hospitality to our friends and family. Do you open your home? Even having Grandma and Grandpa come over can be a time to Text Box: display hospitality. Have your little one help you tidy up. Get them to ask Grandma if she wants something to drink. When your three-year-old has a play date, do you have her offer snacks and activities to share? Taking care of basic needs and considerations of our visitors is hospitality.
These are small things that are in our grasp everyday. The more you show, the more your child will see and want to do the same.

Text Box: Dear Parents,
The year is coming to an end, but things in our class are just starting. I have seen your child grow this year. I am looking forward to seeing them continue their growth next year. This month we will be focusing on the birth of Jesus. My main goal is to have each child know that Christmas is Jesus’ birthday. I encourage you to take this time to share the true meaning of Christmas with your child.
I will be sending out a note about our class Christmas Party as it gets closer.
Sincerely,
Miss Kelly and Mrs. Lauren
